Occupational Therapy My Way...
You have hired an Occupational Therapist to work with your child. Now what? What should you expect therapy to look like? The truth is that all therapists have different approaches, personalities, styles, and strengths. When I arrive at your home, I am determined to integrate my clinical and professional skills with genuine, enjoyable interaction based on your child's unique personality.
You can expect my sessions with your child to look very playful, fun, and easygoing. I need kids to be immersed and engaged so that we’re able to get the best results as quickly as possible. Scientists have determined that it takes approximately 400 repetitions to create a new synapse in the brain. Learning through play, on the other hand, can make a new positive synapse in as little as 10 or 20 repetitions. Mind blown? Mine too. While an occupational therapy session with me may look like a glorified play date, you can rest assured that our appointments are jam-packed with activities that strengthen your little ones’ skill sets. I customize each and every session to ensure that your child works hard while having as much fun as possible. It’s a blessing to be able to witness a child gain new skills, improve areas of weakness, and see their confidence and independence begin to soar. My specialty is building trust, establishing rapport, and bringing fun, love, and joy into each session no matter what the challenges may be. You should also expect regular updates on our sessions, your child’s progress, and ideas for what you can do each week to further accelerate their improvement. My goal is to provide your child and the entire family with the tools needed so that eventually your kiddo will no longer need my support!
